Event Phone: 780-429-4787

Introduction to Early and Infant Mental Health is a free online webinar series that “provides an overview of early development with a focus on infant mental health and factors that can support or hinder development. Theoretical models that can be used to understand behaviors and influencing factors will be explored and considered within the context of community programs that work with families and young children.”

This training introduces anyone working with infants, young children, and their families to the basic concepts of infant and early mental health. The 6-hour webinar focuses on a number of topics that range from brain development to attachment and relationships, to cultural humility as well as community and advocacy. Participation is expected.

Training will be 2 hour sessions from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm via Zoom (Wednesdays, April 3rd, 10th & 17th, 2024), consisting of videos & discussion.

Each Educator needs to complete two pre-surveys online prior to the first watch party (link to register will be emailed to you, it is not the AHVNA website)

  • Each Educator will receive a copy of Comfort, Play & Teach: The First Five Years resource manual, full of developmentally-appropriate activities and strategies to promote healthy brain development
  • Each AHVNA member licensed ECE participant will receive a set of Brain Insight cards for 0-5 years
  • Certificate of Completion – Participation in all 3 sessions in order is required

In partnership with the Government Alberta, AHVNA will provide PD funding ($17.50/hour) to licensed educators for the hours allotted to this training. This course is approximately 6 hours of training. PD Funding is in addition to the 45 hours of funding provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Services.
