Kimochi is a noun meaning ‘feeling’, ‘mind’, and ‘heart’, in Japanese. Research has shown that a focus on developing five core Social-Emotional Competencies provides positive outcomes for children. This training will be valuable for Educators as they support children through big feelings and engage families with practical activities which can be implemented at home.
Our 6 video Watch Party sessions introduce you to the Kimochis® tools to support children in exploring and managing their feelings. Join us in watching & discussing videos made by Kimochis Curriculum Creator Ellen Dodge especially for AHVNA’s ECE training. Participation in discussion is expected.
Training will be 2 hour sessions from 6:30pm until 8:30pm via Zoom (Tuesdays, April 23, 30, & May 7, 14, 21, 28, 2024)
- Each AHVNA member licensed child care centre or dayhome will receive a Kimochis® early childhood tool kit and a set of five character books.
- In addition, each AHVNA member licensed ECE individual participant will receive handouts, a mixed bag of feelings, and a Kimochis® feelings deck.
- Everyone will receive access to the Kimochis Online portal with resources
- Door prizes will be awarded at each session
- Certificate of Completion if attend all 6 sessions
In partnership with the Government Alberta, AHVNA will provide PD funding ($17.50/hour) to licensed educators for the hours allotted to this training. This course is approximately 12 hours of training. PD Funding is in addition to the 45 hours of funding provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Services.
In order to register, Agency or individual must be a member of AHVNA; one membership of $100 allows for ALL Early Childhood Educators within that agency to register for any AHVNA ECE Trainings
