Kimochi is a noun meaning ‘feeling’, ‘mind’, and ‘heart’, in Japanese.

Our 6 video Watch Party sessions introduce you to the Kimochis® tools to support children in exploring and managing their feelings. Join us in watching & discussing videos made by Kimochis Curriculum Creator Ellen Dodge especially for AHVNA’s ECE training.

Research has shown that a focus on developing five core Social-Emotional Competencies provides positive outcomes for children. This training will be valuable for Educators as they support children through big feelings and engage families with practical activities which can be implemented at home. The training is free to ECEs working within licensed day homes and daycares in Alberta that are members of AHVNA.

Facilitated by AHVNA and Kimochis® curriculum. 

In order to register, Agency or individual must be a member of AHVNA; one membership of $100 allows for ALL Early Childhood Educators within that agency to register for any AHVNA ECE Trainings

What’s included?

• Six 2 hour sessions at 6:30pm until 8:30pm via Zoom (Thursdays, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 & March 7, 2024)
• Each AHVNA member licensed child care centre or dayhome will receive a Kimochis® early childhood tool kit and a set of five character books.
• In addition, each AHVNA member licensed ECE individual participant will receive a mixed bag of feelings, a Kimochis® feelings deck, and handouts.
• Everyone will receive access to the Kimochis Online portal with resources
• Door prizes will be awarded at each session
• Certificate of Completion
• Educators will be eligible for Professional Development Funding to attend training ($17.50/hour)

Workshop Expectations

• The nature of the activities mean people can watch from one computer (your whole team can watch together if you want!) – participants must all be registered to receive PD funding
• Cameras on is preferred. You must be able to interact with facilitators & other participants.
